Novell is looking for a skilled, energetic, and highly-organized individual who can grapple with the details without losing sight of the big picture. You need to know how to manage both up and down in an organization to get the decisions, support, deliverables and results you need, on time and within budget.

You’ll work directly with our company’s Product and Solution Marketing teams, crafting proposals, mapping out projects, tracking costs, and setting timelines. You’ll follow projects as they unfold, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, negotiating and working with our in-house production team as well as outside vendors, and keeping the Director apprised of the project’s progress. Your comprehensive project documentation and ongoing tracking and reporting of success metrics will ensure we learn from every project, delivering continually improving value to the team.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Researching and drafting proposals, project scope documents, and metrics reports
- Tracking deadlines and resources, and taking prompt action to prevent slippage
- Tracking and reporting on the performance of key pages regularly, and using data to identify and fill gaps in content
- Identifying and resolving conflicts and issues, and optimizing work processes
- Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the web broadly, and the tools we use specifically
- Writing and/or editing content for delivery on the web or email
- Maintaining and practicing specific in-depth expertise (SEO, Paid Search, Analytics, User Experience, Design, and or Web Demand Gen)
- Communicating clearly and effectively with clients, team members and senior staff

Required:
- Strong communication, organizational, and web writing skills
- In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following: SEO, Paid Search, Analytics, User Experience, Design, Sales and/or Web Demand Gen
- At least five years of marketing or advertising experience
- Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred:

- MBA
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Proficiency in a second language (Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Polish, Czech, Dutch, Swedish, or Italian)
- Understanding of Novell’s products and solutions and the global marketplace in which Novell competes

Background:

The Housing Connection, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, develops customized event registration applications and provides registration and housing services/technologies for managing events and conferences. We maintain an assortment of web and Windows applications that serve customers across the country.

Primary Responsibilities & Summary:

We are looking for a Project Manager/Developer with C# and .Net experience. This position will be responsible to
oversee, organize and prioritize development of new product releases. The position will also be responsible for analyzing business needs, creating design and requirement documents, insuring proper testing and quality assurance is a part of the development and release cycle. Be responsible of project control system, automated builds, managing timelines, and implementing best practices for development. At times the applicant will also be required to develop using the Visual Studio 2008 environment.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience managing web application development
  • Minimum 5 years experience with multiple development frameworks including .Net and JavaScript.
    Knowledge of web standards.
  • Experience in virtual team management
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of revision control solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in Asp.Net, WCF, WPF and Services
  • Must be able to travel (less than 5% of the time) and work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and
    holidays, based on client and office demands.

Job Duties:

  • Handle and manage multiple project timelines
  • Define and implement coding documentation standards
  • Create and delegate tasks and requirements to development team
  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely manner, report on areas effected and help develop
    plans to minimize future problems.
  • Manage company staff or outsourced vendors who will work on company applications
  • Manage and supervise the application development process, setting short and long term objectives and report on
    progress
  • Interface between development team and executive staff
  • Maintain and ensure enterprise-wide disaster recovery plan
  • Manage automated builds, review and approve development releases and manage the release process.
  • Test software, review any application failures in development/review and production.
  • Develop best practices to insure code quality, establish and supervise a quality assurance process.
  • .Net development (Asp.Net, WPF, WCF)
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Position will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development, and work closely with all staff, particularly the
    development team. Occasionally position will be required to work directly with clients.
