Get your geek on: Can you answer these questions from memory?

- What command is used to show how much disk space is being used?
- How can I display my internet interface configuration?
- What is a vtoc?
- What file controls the DNS search sequence?
- How can I see the permissions on a file?

If you can answer most of those questions, and you’re interested in a job, we should talk!

I am immediately seeking to fill several Direct Hire positions for our client. They are seeking those experienced in supporting and troubleshooting Unix & Linux systems and those with experience in networking and storage networks.

This could be a perfect job for students or others needing a flexible schedule. Pay is between $30-$45K/yr with shift-differentials for working off-hours. This is a full-time permanent position, with full benefits.

(FILLED) Job Post: Open Source CMS Guru(s) Needed

I am looking for two or three types of people (or one rolled in to one) — Independent contractors/agencies OK –

1) Individual with solid experience in the LAMP environment, configuring and installing open-source CMS tools such as Joomla, Drupal, ModX, etc, including Apache/MySQL, etc. Mail-server experience helpful as well.

2) Individual with solid CMS programming/customization/template/widget building experience in tools such as Joomla, Drupal, ModX, etc. AJAX experience critical. Actionscript very helpful. Graphic design/HTML/theme-building experience needed. HTML/JS/Ajax/PHP etc is the most important here (in-house graphic designers can assist)

3) Marketing-savvy coordinator of the above online tools after they are built: Managing marketing communications. Helping with blog comments, and helping to connect with customers and clients. Adding and helping to build communities around products.

Technical Sales Evangelist/Engineer — US-UT-Utah County

SOS Technical is assisting our client in locating a Technical Sales Evangelist/Engineer.

Basic Job Duties: Assist their existing sales force in working with potential customers in presenting demos, creating technical proposals, “whiteboarding” solutions, and researching technical solutions. You will have daily interaction between both sales people and external clients/potential customers. This position is a problem-solver’s dream.

Other Items to note:

  • A software-development background is ideal. HTML, JavaScript will be needed, plus some other programming a plus, especially SQL and understanding of various databases and other data-storage formats both structured and unstructured (RDBMS, XML, csv, flat-file, etc, etc)
  • Presentations will often occur via web-conference. Proven experience with such tools is preferred.
  • Travel is a must, both for tradeshows and client meetings. International travel will be as likely as domestic. Candidate must have ability to travel between 25% to 50% of the time, bursting as high as 75% as customer demand fluctuates.
  • Foreign Language skills are preferred. Any language helpful, though Spanish, German, or Asian languages are in high demand.

The right candidate for this job will walk the fine line between technology and sales in that you must have deep technical experience and ability to speak both to the most-technical people both internally and externally to ensure that the technologies can work together, but you must also carry adequate communication skill and deal-flow experience to articulate the solutions, and promote the company, to everyone from C-Level executives on down.
