General Function
Maintains core IT Systems and Services which are critical to the day to day functioning as a national reference laboratory. Manages the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of a large 24/7 Windows, Linux OS and AIX environment which is heavily reliant upon VMWare virtualization technology. Manages the various steps of services design, deployment, maintenance, change management and requires a high level of responsibility, independent judgment and forward thinking. Responds to service requests and emergency needs. Relies on advanced experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Creativity and latitude are required.
Reporting Function
This position reports to the IT Systems Administration Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Infrastructure:
1. Design, configure, implement, manage and maintain server hardware platforms, Datacenter resources and services.
2. Design, configure, implement, manage, maintain and troubleshoot SAN fabric, data storage provisioning, migrations and growth.
3. Install, configure, manage and support Server hosts and VM builds, health and performance.
4. Implement, manage, monitor and troubleshoot backup policies and services.
5. Define, implement and manage local, roaming, and mandatory user profiles policies.
6. Configure and implement complex Exchange environment. Manage, maintain and troubleshoot all related services.
7. Design, configure, implement and support mobile device messaging services.
8. Design and implement disaster recovery options for all areas of responsibility.

Services:
1. Configure, implement, manage and maintain Active Directory services including schema changes, GPO’s and overall Windows security posture.
2. Design, implement and maintain Windows Server OS and IIS security, DMZ systems lock-downs. Troubleshoot and remediate security risks impacting those environments.
3. Design, configure, implement, maintain and improve DMZ services architecture.
4. Design, configure, implement, manage, troubleshoot and improve Windows server and desktop environment patching and application deployment packaging.
5. Implement, configure, manage and maintain global Anti-Virus services, schedules and policies including creating reports, responding to threats and outbreaks, coordinating threat responses with other individuals or teams.
6. Design and develop windows service automation scripting as required to improve environment and to assist in other areas of the department.

Job Qualifications
Education/Credentials required
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Education/Credentials preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field.
• MCSE & specialization.
• Vendor specific certifications.

Experience/skills required
• Four years of IT Systems Administrator I experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in managing the following technologies in a production environment with:

Infrastructure:
1. Enterprise Server OS (Could include Windows, Linux, AIX)
2. Active Directory
3. VMWare ESX
4. SAN Storage
5. SAN Fabric
6. Enterprise Server hardware
7. MS-Exchange
8. Backup and Recovery

Experience/skills preferred
• Intermediate proficiency in managing the following technologies in a production environment with:

Infrastructure:
1. Linux
2. AIX
3. IBM xSeries
4. CommVault Simpana
5. SyncSort
6. AppSense personalization
7. AirWatch mobile security
8. MS-Link
9. MS-SharePoint
10. F5 Big-IP
11. VMWare VDI
12. Mobile Device Management

Physical and other requirements
• Ability to guide and positively engage level-I Staff in support tasks.
• Demonstrated attention to detail to perform day-to-day Monitoring and Maintenance tasks.
• Demonstrated strong troubleshooting and analysis skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers and take directions from upper level Staff.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work all required overtime.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for extensive periods of time.

$34 per hour/DOE
