Web Developer Job Description
This position involves the development of internal applications and Internet specific technologies deployed by the IS&T division. Focus will be on the design, creation and deployment of Oracle database technologies and web related development. Working with a team of developers, this role will report directly with an IS&T Web Application CoE Manager.
Individual will provide development, systems support, and customer support for a number of the following programming languages and platforms:
Programming (e.g. Java, JSP, XML, XSLT, PHP, ASP, Perl, CGI, HTML, DHTML, Flash, Javascript, Visual Basic)
Database (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, SQL)
Novell Products (e.g., exteNd, eDirectory, DirXML, Netware)
Web Servers (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, WebSphere)
Operating Systems (e.g., Linux, Unix, HP-UX, Solaris, MS Windows, KSH, CSH)
Applications (e.g., Eclipse, Remedy, Mercury, Forge, Siebel, CVS)
Work with Business Analysts (BA’s) and Project Managers (PM) to provide development/technical services in connection with enhancement requests and projects. Provide legacy and current systems daily support by troubleshooting reported problems, developing, documenting and implementing solutions. Leverage Novell products to deliver application solutions.
The person should have an understanding of programming and coding tools, and knowledge of leading development and quality assurance methodologies. The person should have 0-3 years application development/support experience and a BA/BS or equivalent degree from an accredited academic institution.

Responsibilities
Primary areas of responsibility relating to the job.
Work with Development Team to evolve and improve development & quality assurance standards
Work with Management, Project Management and Business Analysts to improve the systems that enable key Novell business processes
Complete development assignments for enhancements and projects on time, on budget and to specifications
Support Novell legacy and current systems
Respond to system outages or bugs in a timely fashion, troubleshooting, resolving, implementing and documenting solution/fix
Provide ongoing communication and status of work assignments to management
May participate in rotation for 24 X 7 support of critical applications or services.
Education / Experience
B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
Zero to three years of directly related work experience
