At 5:15 PM on Friday, September 2, our Bryan, Texas branch of SOS Staffing was preparing to close up for the weekend when a young man came into the office looking for work. He and his fiance had had to postpone their wedding due to the hurricane in Louisiana. They evacuated and ending up in Bryan.
Earlier that day, a convenience store employee had recommended that the young man contact the state employment service as well as staffing services in town. He had been turned away from these services due to the late hour on a Friday night. Our Bryan branch qualified and interviewed the young man and placed him on a job Monday morning. His new job with SOS Staffing pays a higher wage than the job he previously held in Louisiana.
The convenience store employees, learning of the postponed wedding, volunteered to give the couple a wedding. Our customer who employed this young man, Cox Media, found out the couple’s circumstances and is giving them a bridal shower.
For this new couple, what could have become a desperate situation has turned hopeful and new thanks to the generosity of the Bryan community.
